JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Menteri Komunikasi dan
Informatika Rudiantara mempersilahkan jika operator seluler berencana
menaikan tarif layanan datanya memasuki era mobile 4G LTE tahun ini. Ia
mengingatkan provider agar tidak menjual tarif di bawah harga produksi untuk menarik pelanggan.
"Operator jangan juga menjual di bawah harga produksi. Kalau begitu,
dan masyarakat inginnya harga murah-murah terus, bersiaplah dapat
kualitas yang tidak bagus," kata Rudi di Kantor Wakil Presiden Jakarta,
Jumat (2/1/2015).
Mantan komisaris Indosat ini juga menyampaikan bahwa Pemerintah tidak
akan mengeluarkan kebijakan yang menetapkan tarif minimum atau floor price. Menurut dia, pemerintah kini mendorong persaingan antar operator seluler, agar masyarakat punya lebih banyak pilihan.
"Yang akan kita dorong maintain (menjaga) adalah kompetisi.
Harus ada pilihan bagi masyarakat pelanggan, harus ada pilihan produk
maupun pilihan harga," ucap Rudi.
Menyambut era 4G LTE, wacana menaikkan harga pun kembali dimunculkan,
antara lain oleh operator seluler Indosat. Presiden Direktur dan CEO
Indosat Alexander Rusli mengimbau operator-operator seluler lain agar
mengusahakan kenaikan harga. Hal ini disebutnya memerlukan pengertian
bersama karena menyangkut kepentingan industri secara keseluruhan.
Ia pun meminta Pemerintah menetapkan floor price atau harga
minimum. Indosat sendiri menurut Alex telah mulai menerapkan kenaikan
harga data di kuartal kedua dan ketiga tahun ini.
Dia mengatakan ada banyak cara yang bisa dipakai untuk menjustifikasi
naiknya harga, misalnya saja peningkatan kualitas layanan atau
penawaran konten. Alex mengaku telah mendiskusikan rencana kenaikan
tarif ini dengan Rudiantara. Menurut dia, Menkominfo telah memberikan
lampu hijau atas rencana kenaikan tarif tersebut.
